Hello, my name is Dr. Gena Lester and I am a college admissions expert. Even though I’ve got the credentials, I’m a mom first and it was my experience as a mom that spurred my passion to provide resources, tools, and advice to other parents and their teens who struggle to figure out the college admissions and scholarship processes.

When looking back at that time with my kids, my favorite memories include college visit road trips, celebrating college acceptance letters, scholarship offers totaling over $1.5 million between the 3 of them and the moment that each of them made their final college decision.  At the same time there were moments of stress, tears and fear along the way.

I’ve been where you are, so I get it! This is not an easy process. As a mom in education I had a well laid out college plan in place for each of my kids. They took college prep courses, had great resumes and started implementing early.  What I could not have predicted was that their dad would be diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease during our oldest daughter’s Sophomore year of high school and pass away shortly after the youngest started her college journey. It suddenly became uber important for my kids to not only get into the college of their dreams, but to also obtain the best scholarships available to provide them with that education.
